2021 National Jamboree

2021 National Jamboree

Calling All Volunteers Interested in Serving as a Unit Leader!

Every four years the Boy Scouts of America hosts a National Jamboree where Scouts join together from across the country for two weeks of adventure and fellowship.  The next National Jamboree will be held from July 21-31, 2020 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.  More than just a gathering of Scouts, the Jamboree provides High Adventure programming, a chance to visit Washington, D.C. with our council contingent, and so much more. We hope that you will consider joining with us as we plan and take part in a memorable Scouting adventure!

Northern Star Scouting is sending 5 Troops to the 2021 National Jamboree.  Over the last few months, the Jamboree committee has been working to develop plans and a travel itinerary that will provide a fantastic experience for all the youth that are attending.  We are very happy and excited to announce that the Jamboree unit leaders have been selected and are already hard at work getting ready to kick-off this Fall.

  • Scoutmaster:  Katie Dettmann
  • Scoutmaster:  David Eisenbrandt
  • Scoutmaster:  Richard Greiner
  • Scoutmaster:  Kim Shannon
  • Scoutmaster:  Steve Young

The Jamboree units will start to form over the summer as youth registrations are submitted. Jamboree units will hold their first meeting in mid to late Fall of 2020 and then meet a few times over the winter as they select and train the youth leadership of their unit and prepare everyone for this unique adventure.

To participate in the Jamboree Boy Scouts must be at least 12 years of age by July 21st, but not reached their 18th birthday by the conclusion of the event on July 31st.  Since we are limited to 36 youth per unit, we highly recommend that you submit your applications right away!

Cost to attend the Jamboree as part of the Northern Star Council contingent is only $2,699. This price will include airfare, hotel, and meals in during the pre-Jamboree tour of Washington, D.C., Jamboree participant fees, activity shirts ("Class B" uniform) and all necessary equipment.

The first step in attending the Jamboree is to apply online at:

Once a youth has signed up online, Northern Star Scouting will send details on accessing the Northern Star Scouting contingent payment site.

Finally, for adult leaders that are also interested in participating in the Jamboree, please consider serving on Staff.  There are over 100 different staff roles ranging from medical, mechanical, program, logistics, hospitality, and communications.  It takes a staff of well over 4,000 volunteers to run a Jamboree and if you are interested in serving, this is a fantastic way to experience a Jamboree while also making a huge impact for our youth.  More information on Jamboree staff can be found on the Jamboree site under the Service Team tab:

Please do not hesitate to contact the Jamboree committee or any of our unit leaders with any questions or concerns.  We look forward to seeing you at the Summit for the 2021 National Jamboree!
