Program Levels

CUB SCOUTING: Ages 5 to 10

Cub Scouting

Cub Scouts go places and do things. Hands-on experiences through a wide range of fun social activities build confidence, personal achievement, and respect for self and others.

SCOUTS BSA: Ages 11 to 18

Scouts BSA

In Scouts BSA, you'll have real-world experiences and adventures. Get outdoors, go camping, learn leadership skills, and discover talents and interests while having fun with friends.

VENTURING: Ages 13 to 21


Venturers do challenging, high adventure activities (like rock climbing, sailing, and hiking), as well as community service, building leadership, teamwork and socialization skills.

EXPLORING: Ages 14 to 21


Explorers learn directly from experts, taking the classroom into the business world, gaining hands-on experience in career areas of their choice, from law enforcement to engineering.

Base Camp

Base Camp, in historic Fort Snelling, is our urban adventure camp. Our mission is to serve all youth of the greater Twin Cities area through school field trips, lock-ins, retreats, summer camps, and community group use.


Leadership Center

The Leadership Center is Scout central for Northern Star Scouting


Culturally Specific

Culturally Specific Scouting ensures that all young people have the opportunity to gain the benefits of Scouting participation. Working to remove language or cultural barriers, programs focus primarily on working with the Hmong, Latino, Asian,  African-American and recent immigrant populations. 


Supporting Scouts with Special Needs

Scouting is for everyone. Scouts with special needs are given the opportunity to take part in fun, exciting adventures within their local units or within the Polaris District.


After School Programs

Students explore and achieve various facets of life through hands-on activities, science projects, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities designed to engage, enrich and excite youth in an after-school setting. 


Juvenile Diversion

Providing first and second time juvenile offenders a positive alternative to the court system, while teaching them leadership and decision-making skills.
