In keeping with governmental recommendations for health and safety, as well as Monday’s “Safer at home” order to close all non-essential businesses by Wisconsin Governor Evers, we will be operating Northern Star Scouting remotely starting Wednesday, March 25. Our Scouting Headquarters, the Base Camp Leadership Center, will be closed to foot traffic although staff will be available by email and phone during regular business hours.
Calls made to our main number 612-261-2300 will go to voicemail, but messages are being monitored by staff in real time and return calls will be made promptly.
Paper applications and other hard copy items can be placed in the drop box located next to the shipping/receiving door (west end of the building by garage doors and wooden enclosure - a grey box labeled “After Hours Drop Offs”). Additional details will continue to be shared here on our website.
This extends our previous announcements below
For the safety of all, based on the guidance of the governors of Wisconsin and Minnesota, effective immediately all units are to discontinue their in-person meetings, activities and camps. Our Northern Star Camps will also be closed. This suspension will remain in effect until the states reopen schools and extracurricular activities.
Our Leadership Center will now also close with our employees working remotely (Starting 3/25). We will continue to update everyone via our website as well as email.
Virtual Scouting Options
During this time, we'll do our best to give suggestions and guidance on ways Scouting can continue virtually (digital meetings, at-home advancement, etc). Stay tuned to this page, our new Scouting From Home Page and our social media channels for that. In addition, our Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts Facebook groups have been very active with volunteers giving tips to each other. Check them out as well!
Base Camp, Plymouth and Mounds View Scout Shops Suspending Operations
Will Reassess for Possible April 1 Reopening –
Effective Thursday, 3/19, the Plymouth and Mounds View Scout Shops will temporarily suspend operations. Starting Friday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. the Base Camp location will also suspend services.
The two suspensions will be reassessed for possible reopening on Wednesday, April 1.
Please continue to monitor this web page for the most current information on any changes.
As you know, all of our camps and ‘in-person’ Scouting operations were suspended when Minnesota and Wisconsin closed schools and extra-curricular activities. We’re eagerly looking forward to when we can resume normal operations.
At this point we continue to plan accordingly for the successful opening and operation of our camps this summer season.
All current planning and financial deadlines will remain in place. At the same time, please know that we will be as flexible and accommodating as we can in light of the current hardships that we are all experiencing. Similarly, in the unfortunate circumstance that camps are forced to close this summer, all fees paid will be refunded.
We value you and we look forward to seeing you this summer.
Some events that have been cancelled are automatically issuing refunds.
For other events and weekend camps, we are recommending fees and deposits be carried forward to a new date. If preferred, we will make full refunds upon request.
We are planning for and expect our summer activities, courses, and camps to take place as scheduled. If conditions warrant changes, we will make the necessary accommodations to protect units and families from any financial losses.
