2024 Chainsaw and Shooting Sports Trainings

Chainsaw Safety Training

Northern Star Scouting is offering Chain Saw Safety Training at two different locations. Chain Saw Safety Training is required if you're planning to operate a chain saw on Northern Star Council camp properties. Events such as Conclaves and Alumni work weekends benefit from trained volunteers. Cutting is always done at the discretion of the Camp Ranger and/or council staff.

LOCATIONS AND DATES:

Stearns Scout Camp: September 28, 2024 - Meet at the Whitewater cabin.

Phillippo Scout Camp: October 26, 2024 - Meet at the dining hall.

All Classes will run the same at all locations.

Check in starts at 8:00 a.m. - Class starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. bring a bag lunch, the day will end at about 4:00 p.m.

Each session limits vary according to location.

Note: We do encourage you to purchase all of your own safety equipment. Safety equipment should always be used when cutting on your own or at camps. Always think SAFETY.

This is open to adults 21 years of age and older.

Shooting Sports Trainings

Northern Star Scouting offers 5 different shooting sports trainings every Spring and Fall. 

The BSA Range Master trainings certify and allow you to run a BB range or archery range for a Cub Scout Pack for 2 years. We offer a quick online recertification for anyone who's certification is expiring soon or in-person trainings for those who have yet to be certified. You can take either course individually or both at once for a discount.

The USA Archery Level 1 Instructor training certify and allow you to run an archery range for a Scouts BSA Troop for 2 years.

While we're still locking down our Fall trainings, all Spring trainings are available for you to sign up right now:

Combined BSA Archery & BB Range Master Trainings: April 28, 2024 from 10:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Phillippo Scout Camp Warming House.

Individual BSA Archery Range Master Training: May 4, 2024 from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Kiwanis Scout Camp Fox Den.

Individual BSA BB Range Master Training: May 4, 2024 from 12:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Scout Camp Fox Den.

USA Archery Level 1 Instructor:  May 18, 2024 from 11:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Phillippo Scout Camp Warming House.
