Exploring: A Great day with the FBI!
The Minneapolis Field Office of the FBI hosted a day full of information and hands-on activities on March 11.
More than 100 people attended the FBI mini-academy, with more than 70 of those being local Explorers. The day began with an overview of what the role the FBI plays in our country and around the world. Presentations from FBI agents and personnel included requirements to be met before becoming an FBI agent, some of the cases that they have been involved in, and what the training at the headquarters in Quantico, Virginia is like for trainees.
The rest of the day meant spending time with demonstrations and being able to handle very specialized equipment that is used by the bomb technicians, the SWAT Team, the communications and operations center, and a wide variety of new and historic weapons in the gun vault.
Throughout the day Special Agent in Charge Winston recognized several attendees with a special FBI challenge coin for answering FBI trivia questions correctly and also recognized 7 of our youth in attendance for having at least a 4.0 grade point average in school.
A huge thank you to Luisana Pinales, FBI Community Outreach for working to organize this special opportunity for us and also to Special Agent in Charge Alvin Winston for all of his support and personal involvement!
