Highlight: Fall University of Scouting 2022

The Success of University of Scouting is No Mystery!

Northern Star’s Fall 2022 University of Scouting was held on Saturday, October 29th. It was exciting to have both adults and youth together in-person at St. Paul College! With over 70 classes – including 23 brand new classes – there was something for everyone, including the Scooby Gang!

It goes without saying that creating course curriculum and presenting it to over 310 participants would not be possible without dedicated support from our team of over 65 volunteer Instructors. Thank you, Instructors, for sharing your subject matter expertise and all you did to make University of Scouting successful for everyone!

Special thanks go to our University of Scouting Chancellor, Rachel Thiemann, and our dedicated committee. We’d like to recognize Ree Thompson, Dean of the College of Scouts BSA, Faith Anderson, Dean of the College of Venturing, Jacob Johnson, Dean of the College of Sea Scouting, Bob Elliot, Dean of the College of General Scouting, Brad Peterson, Dean of the College Youth Leadership, and Tim Sibley, Dean of the College of Cub Scouting. Thanks to supporting Committee Members and Volunteers Jessica Harrell (Communications/Marketing), Laurie Johnson and John Dean (Facilities), Brian Reiners (Patch Design), Jim Foster (Green Screen/Photography), Victor Thiemann (Midway), Kirt Boston for the Instructor Training session with Dave Evans, our Dean of the UOS Extension, and Order of the Arrow Totanhan Nakaha Lodge under the leadership of Stu Smith for helping as greeters and general volunteers throughout the day.

Additionally, we were joined by over 28 Midway Partners who hosted information tables as a valuable way of providing additional knowledge to participants. Special thanks to Troop 7045 from St. Paul for a fabulous spread of treats, coffee and other fun items.

Thank you to everyone mentioned, and all the participants for their effort in making our University of Scouting an incredible success. Scouty-Do!

We will again be proving a selection of classes aimed at busy Scout Leaders, who prefer bite-sized learning from the convenience of their own home. Through the University of Scouting “Extension” we are bringing you a series of 1-hour evening Zoom classes, allowing you to better juggle your responsibilities and childcare. There is no cost for these sessions, so register for as many as you like!
