Northern Star Scouting is hosting two opportunities for Outdoor Leader Training this coming fall. Training sessions for both Cub Leaders and Scouts BSA leaders will be held. Our courses always fill up quickly, so please sign up early and don't miss this excellent training opportunity!
Scoutmaster/Asst, Scoutmaster Specific and IOLS Training
In addition to fulfilling the training requirements for Scoutmasters & Assistant Scoutmasters, this course is a fantastic introduction for parents or other adults to learn about Scouts, BSA and how Troops function in a fun, fast paced & hands-on environment!

BASIC ADULT LEADER OUTDOOR ORIENTATION (BALOO)
Why take BALOO Training? The following are just a few reasons:
- One BALOO trained leader is required on all Cub Scout camping trips
- BALOO training allows Webelos den leaders to take their den camping on its own
- BALOO training ensures your camping outings are covered under BSA insurance
- Training gives you resources for creating a fun camping program and saving money!
BALOO training covers topics from health and safety, to the logistics of planning and running a successful camping trip for your pack. You'll learn about meal preparation, camping, cooking (including hands-on Dutch oven cooking), camping gear selection, water safety, and campfire program planning. You'll also learn group games, skits and songs, and practice traditional Scouting skills like pocketknife use and safety, map and compass, knot tying, hiking, outdoor ethics, and first aid.
