About Scouting For Food
Our annual door-to-door food drive
Scouting for Food is a large community service project where Scouts collect items for local food shelves.
Scouting groups drop off labeled door
hangers throughout neighborhoods a few days before they plan to pick-up
the food, often the last Saturday in April, then return to collect the
food that Saturday and deliver to our local food shelves.
How do I get door hangers?
Door hangers are distributed at District Roundtables in March or April.
Will another Scout group be putting door hangers in the same neighborhoods?
Each District has a coordinator to map out coverage areas, and
participating Packs, Troops, and Crews sign up for the area they will
be covering at the March or April Roundtable.
Can we collect food only on the last Saturday in April?
The Districts that are participating in the Scouting for Food drive will
be coordinating with local food shelves the last Saturday in April.
However, the door hangers only say food will be picked up the following Saturday, so could be used at other times
throughout the year.
What if my District does not participate in the Scouting for Food Drive?
You can contact your District Activities Chair, or Council District
Executive, to get materials and participate.
