What is High Adventure?

Experience true wilderness camping and unique adventure- plan your own trips with proper planning and training

Keeping Scouts Excited

High Adventure can mean a lot of things. There are many opportunities, all over the country, for Scout units to experience high adventure on their own or as part of an organized camping experience. Hiking, shooting sports, canoeing, advanced camping, sailing, climbing and exploring can all be part of a high adventure program or trip.

National High Adventure Bases

The Boy Scouts of America owns and operates 4 National High Adventure Bases. Each one of these programs offers a unique and memorable experience for any Scout or Scouter. Getting to a High Adventure Base during your Scouting career should be on your Scouting 'bucket list'!

  • Philmont Scout Ranch: Cimarron, New Mexico
  • Florida Sea Base: Islamorada, Florida
  • Northern Tier: Ely, Minnesota
  • The Summit: Glen Jean, West Virginia
