Isabella Tunney writes a children’s book – “Bella the BSA Scout Blazes a New Trail”

Congratulations to Isabella Tunney who has added a new title to her already impressive Scouting resume. Now, in addition to becoming an Eagle Scout, earning all 137 merit badges, and serving as a Youth Representative for the National BSA Report to the Nation, Isabella is an author having written and illustrated a children’s book.

Although autobiographical; Isabella says: “The purpose of the book is to inspire other young girls to achieve big goals, break down barriers and to never give up.” It traces her journey to become part of the Inaugural Class of female Eagle Scouts through telling her story illustrated with digitized images.

In the “…helping other people at all times…” tradition, a portion of the proceeds from the book will be donated to Simpson Homeless Shelter, where Isabella completed her Eagle Scout project. The book is available on

Isabella’s book caught the attention of local media, she was on Fox 9 Sunday Morning television interview with Leah Beno, at 7:45 a.m. on September 26. Here is a link to the interview.

Isabella represents lots of Northern Star Scouting Scouts BSA members who are achieving their Eagle Scout goals, with 27 young women attaining the rank to date, including nine in 2021, joined by 390 young men as of September.
