Exciting Training Opportunities Coming This Spring

Courses to help leverage resources, make best use of limited time and provide a better program for members

We all know that being trained in whatever you do helps to ensure that you are more successful. These courses will show you how to leverage available resources and make the best use of your time. The Northern Star Scouting Training Team has outstanding trainers ready to get you fully up to speed through some great opportunities this Spring.

Interested in taking your Pack camping? - Take Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (baloo)

To take your Cub Scout Pack on a self-run overnight camping outing or family camping event, you must have at least one Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) trained leader attending the outing. BALOO training covers topics from health and safety to the logistics of planning and running a successful camping trip for your pack. Learn about program planning, meal preparation and food safety, camping gear selection, water safety, and campfire program planning. Get hands on experience with group games, skits and songs, and traditional Scouting skills like pocketknife use and safety, map and compass, knot tying, hiking, and first aid. Most importantly, BALOO isn’t simply a skills or knowledge test. You will learn how to teach the necessary skills to youth and inexperienced adults so you can have a successful and exciting Pack outing.

The course will be held at Stearns Scout Camp from Saturday, May 21, 2022, 9:00 AM to Sunday, May 22, 2022, 11:00AM. The course includes an overnight camping experience. For more information and to register visit:
