Test your ability rappelling down a wall or bouldering and climbing
Climbing and bouldering are fun activities for Scouts of all ages.
Who Can Participate?
Cub Scout age youth can boulder and climb on commercial or
horizontal walls with the proper equipment as long as they are
supervised by a qualified adult who is following the requirements set
forth in Climb On Safely training.
5th grade Webelos through Boy Scouting and Venturing age can also
rappel and climb on vertical walls or towers with the proper equipment, as
long as they are supervised by a qualified
adult who is following the requirements set forth in Climb On Safely
training.
Boy Scouts and Venturers can participate in the above and rock
climbing with the proper equipment as long as they are supervised by a
qualified
adult who is following the requirements set forth in Climb On Safely
training.
Safety
Proper equipment and safety gear must be used for each activity.
Adult leaders can supervise these activities after receiving special training.
Where To Go Climbing
BSA summer camps have available equipment and trained staff making them the best place for a Scouting group to go climbing.
Scout unit leaders can lead and supervise their own
climbing activities, but must follow the requirements in
Climb on Safely and be properly trained for the specific activity.
Training For Adults
Adult leaders interested becoming trained as described in the BSA
National Camp Standards (430-056) should watch for periodic local courses here and in our newsletter.
