Highlights: Fall Camporee 2022
Scouts Didn't Just Survive - They Thrived!
This past Fall, over 1,000 participants from around Northern Star Scouting participated in the Wilderness Survival Fall Camporees at Stearns Scout Camp and Phillippo Scout Camp. During the event, Scouts had the opportunity to rotate through stations that featured the requirements of the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. At the stations Scouts tested their skills at fire-building, first-aid, signaling, and experienced so much more. The culmination of the program was an overnight experience in an improvised shelter that Scouts created themselves. Congratulations to all of the Scouts that braved the cold and completed their Wilderness Survival Merit Badges this Fall!
Special thanks to the Fall Camporee Subcommittee, and event chair Jenny Veith for the hard work that went into planning and conducting two large-scale Fall Camporee events. The volunteer response for both Camporees was outstanding, and it was great to see so many Scouters jumping-in to help staff stations, park cars, and help with behind-the-scenes logistics. Successfully facilitating an event on the scale of the Fall Camporees this Fall was quite a feat, and the volunteer team definitely completed their good turn in offering a quality event for so many Scouts.
If you missed the Camporees this Fall, save the date for our Scouts BSA Spring Camporee/ Recruitoree the weekend of May 12-14, 2023 at Stearns Scout Camp. If you are looking for program a little sooner, we hope to see you at one of our Klondike Derby events, January 28th at Stearns Scout Camp and February 18th at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp.
