Summer Camp 2020 Recap
We had an incredible summer camp season. Going into the summer, we knew it was essential that we offer a camp experience because kids needed a connection to our program, to the outdoors and to each other.
Throughout the summer feedback was very strong. Adults and youth were overwhelmingly grateful for the camp opportunity and universally noted that it exceeded their expectations. Check out these short videos from our campers and staff for a first-hand perspective.
In full, over 4100 youth participated in an in-person summer camp experience. A breakdown follows:
Cub Scouts: 731 Cub Scouts attended an overnight summer program. This is roughly 25% of our 2019 attendance.
Scouts BSA: 2857 youth attended Many Point and Tomahawk. This is roughly 36% of our 2019 attendance.
Day Camp: Over 500 community youth attended through August. This is a roughly 24% increase over our 2019 attendance. In addition to these numbers, our Base Camp team was able to provide mobile field trips to 8 summer schools and outside organizations.
We're equally proud to share that by following our protocols we have not yet had a single confirmed case of COVID in our participants or staff as a result of our camps!
Camping experiences are critical for our kids. Now is the time to get outside and enjoy what Scouting is best known for – the outdoors!
