District Chairs

Partners with District Executives and District Commissioners (Key 3) to increase youth retention and guarantee continuous improvement on District JTE criteria. This position recruits, trains, and gives leadership to District Committee Chairs and the district as a whole.



Advancement Reports

District Advancement Report: Detailed summary of rank awards earned by unit type and number, totaled by program and district, plus the number of merit badge earned. Frequency: monthly.

Budget Reports

Budget Reconciliation Report: Tracks actual income and expenses for all fee-based events/activities based on receipts and accounts payable submissions to accounting. Frequency: monthly.

Camping Reports

Cub Scout Camping Report:Number of Cub Scout youth members and adults attending council run programs totaled by program comparing current registrations and number of units by district to last year’s total registrations at the end of that season (winter, summer or fall). Frequency: November-February monthly: winter day camp (Polar Cubs), March-July monthly: summer camp, August-October monthly: fall day camp.

Boy Scout Camping Report: Number of Boy Scout youth members and leaders attending council-run programs totaled by program comparing current registrations and number of units by district to last year’s total registrations at the end of that season (winter or fall). The summer camp report shows the numbers of units by district compared to the number of units at the end of the summer season the previous year. Frequency: November-February monthly: winter camp (North Wind and Snow Base), March-July monthly: summer camp, August-October: no report.

District Journey To Excellence Reports

District Journey To Excellence Report: Monthly status by district of performance against the gold standard JTE by National BSA in the areas of Finance, Membership, Program, Unit Service, Leadership/Governance and an annual Bonus Category. The report shows current status and the points needed to reach Bronze, Silver and Gold Levels. Frequency: monthly.

Friends of Scouting Reports

Friends of Scouting Campaign Summary: Total contributions and pledges to date for current year and the same time in the prior year for Family and Community Campaigns, showing goals and percentage of attainment, by district and council division. Frequency: weekly.

Membership Reports

Objective Progress Reports: Detailed prior and current year-to-date membership/unit totals by program, plus current statistics on top leaders trained, reregistration totals/status, total available youth/percentages served (density), Boys' Life subscriptions and registered district volunteers. Frequency: monthly.

Webelos Transition Reports: A comparison report with the number of Webelos eligible to transition, current number transitioned and the number needed to achieve goal, all by district. Frequency: weekly February through October.

Popcorn Sale Reports

The report is now being developed for the 2017 sale. It will be seasonal during the sales period with a frequency determined by analysis of the current campaign.

Recharter Reports

Recharter Report: Current status of the number of youth, units, and charters turned in compared to the same time period of the previous year. Frequency: A weekly, seasonal report from November to March.

Training Reports

Each district training volunteer creates their own detailed reports by unit through the Northern Star Council Unit Toolbox System and My.Scouting.org on demand. The report provides a summary of top leaders trained in each Scouting unit within the specified district. You must be registered as a district training chair in order to have access to this report in My.Scouting.org.
