A Gift that Lasts a Lifetime—and Beyond
Looking for a meaningful gift that will make a lasting impact? Consider giving the James E. West Fellowship Award—a tribute that honors a special Scout, leader, or volunteer while supporting Scouting forever.
What Is the James E. West Fellowship?
A James E. West Fellowship is a gift of $1,000 or more made to the Northern Star Trust, an endowment fund that ensures the long-term strength of Scouting in our council. Each year, approximately 5% of the invested funds are used to support Scouting programs—meaning your gift keeps working for generations to come.
In recognition of this special contribution, donors or their honorees receive:
- A personalized certificate
- A lapel pin
- The James E. West square knot for the Scout uniform
Why the Name?
James E. West was Scouting’s first Chief Scout Executive. His visionary leadership helped shape the movement through some of its most challenging and formative years. Today, we honor his legacy by recognizing those who help guide and grow Scouting in their communities—just as he did on a national scale.
Who Can You Honor?
The Fellowship is a perfect way to honor:
- An Eagle Scout
- A dedicated Scoutmaster or volunteer
- A Silver Beaver recipient
- A special anniversary or retirement
- The memory of a loved one who believed in Scouting
Fellowships begin at the Bronze level ($1,000) and can be increased over time to Silver, Gold, and Diamond recognition levels through cumulative giving.
