Exploring Scholarship Opportunities
Have you heard?! Northern Star Exploring gives out Five Scholarships every year!
Every year Explorers in the Northern Star Council have the chance to apply for one or more of our Scholarships. If you are a registered Explorer in Northern Star Council and planning to attend a post-secondary school in the coming school year, you are already checking off one of the requirements!
Starting this year, there is only ONE APPLICATION to fill out:
Each of the Five scholarships have specific requirements. Many of the requirements are the same.
Northern Star Exploring Scholarship (one scholarship awarded annually)
You must be a high school senior or above preparing to attend a college, junior college, or vocational school in the fall of 2023 or be currently enrolled in a college, junior college, or vocational school in the fall of 2023.
You must be registered in the Exploring program through Northern Star Council and have participated for at least one year.
We also ask that you have demonstrated an interest in career exploration and your leadership ability through participating in the Exploring Program. As well as a strong record of participation in school or community activities.
The Willie Lee Bjorge Scholarship (one scholarship awarded annually)
This Scholarship has the same requirements as our Northern Star Exploring Scholarship! If you are currently a registered, participating, high school senior or above, preparing to attend a school in the fall, and demonstrated both your leadership and interest in career exploration though our program and the community, you are set.
There are also two Law Enforcement specific Scholarships:
Allan G. Lee (two scholarships awarded annually)
Same requirements as the Northern Star Exploring Scholarship, above.
Major Mahipathi (one scholarship awarded annually)
There are a few differences for the Mahipathi scholarship that you should be aware of:
Must be in good academic standing as a high school senior or older preparing to enter a college, junior college, or vocational/trade school in the fall or be currently enrolled in a college, junior college, or vocational/trade school in the fall.
You also need a minimum of one year participation in a Law Enforcement Explorer Post. You need to have demonstrated an interest in a career in Law Enforcement.
I hope this helps you decided which scholarships you or people you may know could apply for!
