Get BALOO Trained and Get Your Pack Out Camping!

To take your Cub Scout Pack on a self-run overnight camping outing or family camping event, you must have at least one Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) trained leader attending the outing. BALOO training covers topics from health and safety to the logistics of planning and running a successful camping trip for your pack.

Learn about program planning, meal preparation and food safety, camping gear selection, water safety, and campfire program planning. Get hands on experience with group games, skits and songs, and traditional Scouting skills like pocketknife use and safety, map and compass, knot tying, hiking, and first aid. Most importantly, BALOO isn’t simply a skills or knowledge test. You will learn how to teach the necessary skills to youth and inexperienced adults so you can have a successful and exciting Pack outing.

The course will be held at Fred C. Andersen Scout Camp from Saturday, May 18, (9:00 a.m.) to Sunday, May 19, 2024 (11:00 a.m.). The course includes an overnight camping experience and all meals. For more information and to register visit: https://www.northernstar.org/training/baloo
