Moundsview Scout Shop Office Closing in October

Dear Scouting Families and Volunteers,

Over the last several years, we have seen a steady decline in the number of customers visiting the Mounds View Scout Shop, as more families and volunteers have chosen alternative purchasing options, including the online Scout Shop. While we are committed to making Scouting supplies accessible, these changing shopping patterns have significantly reduced in-store traffic at the Mounds View location.

As a result, the Mounds View Scout Shop has operated at a financial loss for some time, and increasing operating costs have continued to widen that gap. With our current lease term coming to an end, we have carefully evaluated the long-term sustainability of maintaining two Scout Shops in such close proximity to one another.

After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the Mounds View Scout Shop effective October 31, 2026.

We remain committed to providing quality service and support to our Scouts, families, and volunteers. Our Scout Shops at Base Camp, Hermantown, and Mankato will continue to serve the needs of Scouting communities throughout Northern Star Scouting's territory. Additionally, when possible, Northern Star staff will continue to assist units by delivering needed supplies to meetings and unit events.

We are grateful for the many volunteers, families, and Scouts who have supported and utilized the Mounds View Scout Shop over the years. Thank you for your understanding as we make this necessary change to ensure that Northern Star Scouting can continue providing strong programs, resources, and services for future generations of Scouts.

Yours in Scouting,

Jeff Sulzbach
