Northern Star Scouting Eagle Scout Scholarship
Each year up to $40,000 in scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors in Northern Star Scouting. Endowed scholarships include Camp Staff, Technical School, Individual Education Plan, Southeast Asian Scout, a Scout who has earned a Scouts BSA religious emblem and more. Applications are available online beginning November 1, 2025 and closing January 6, 2026.
2026 EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicant earned their Eagle Scout Award with Northern Star Scouting and is currently registered with the council or was registered at some point in 2025.
- The Scout must personally complete all application elements (online information, the application, and supplemental material. Find all these items online.
- Applicant has been granted the Eagle Scout rank through a completed successful Eagle board of review or verified that their application for Eagle Scout rank has been received at the National Office before January 6, 2026.
- Applicant is a graduating high school senior entering a post-secondary school in the year the scholarship is awarded. Scholarships are awarded only to those applicants who graduate from high school in the calendar year in which scholarships are presented. Exception – an applicant whose Eagle Scout Board of Review is held after January 6 of their high school graduating year may apply the following year.
- Online application must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on January 6. You will not have access to the online portion after this time.

Eagle Scout Project of the Year
For Scouts who have completed their Eagle Board of Review in 2025.
Northern Star Scouting chooses the most outstanding Eagle Scout project to represent the council at the Regional and National level each year. Projects associated with a Scout completing their Eagle Board of Review in the current award year (2025) are eligible (even if the project was completed before 2025). Apply now. American Legion's Eagle Scout of the Year
The American Legion's Eagle Scout of the Year award is a national honor that is given annually. Winners are named during the organization's Spring Meetings each May. The application is available online at www.legion.org/scholarships and must be submitted to each applicant's respective American Legion department headquarters by March 1. The Eagle Scout of the Year will receive a $10,000 scholarship and three runners-up will each receive $2,500.

VFW Scout of the Year
Annually the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States awards scholarships to individuals who are: Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, Venture Summit Award recipients and/or Sea Scout Quartermasters who have risen above their peers in exemplifying the qualities of that rank. There are local, state and national awards in most areas. Scholarship is awarded through a competitive process.

First-year Hamline University students with Eagle Scout rank are eligible for a $1,000 - $3,000 scholarship.

NESA offers several scholarships for qualifying Eagle Scouts. Awards range from $1000 to $48,000.

Sons of the American Revolution Essay Contest
The National Society, Sons of the American Revolution, annually sponsors the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest, which offers a scholarship of up to $10,000 to a winning Eagle Scout. Participants apply through state societies.

Northern Star Council Venturing Scholarship
Venture Scouts who have earned the Silver or Summit Award are encouraged to apply. One scholarship is awarded annually.

Exploring Scholarships
Several scholarships are available to Explorer Scouts. Applications are reviewed and selected by committee, typically in the Spring. Post advisors are notified when applications are available.
Allan G. Lee Law Enforcement Exploring Scholarship
$1000 Academic scholarship awarded to a Law Enforcement Explorer in 12th grade or above.
Willy Lee Bjorge Scholarship
$1,000 Scholarship for an Explorer who will have completed their freshman year in an accredited law enforcement training program by the following summer.
Nothern Star Exploring Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to a 12th grade Explorer from any post.

Andersen Camp Staff Scholarship
Full-time college students who have completed a full season on camp staff at one of Northern Star's summer camps are eligible.
Gordon Kogl Staff Scholarship
Students who have worked part-time at Base Camp for at least 6 months are eligible to apply every 6 months.
