Family Welcomes Sixth Eagle Scout
District J Scouter, Samuel E. Rossi welcomed grandson, Santiago R. Rossi as the sixth Eagle Scout in his family of Scouters in Northern Star Council. Santi received his Eagle from Troop 9005 Scoutmaster Mr. John Bakken on July 30, 2021 at St. Ambrose Church in Woodbury, MN. For his Eagle project, Santi made blankets and collected toys, treats and food as care packages for pets adopted through the Animal Humane Society.
Santi’s grandfather Samuel and his brother Thomas earned their Eagle awards through Troop 37, Blackhawk Area Council, Rockford, IL in the late 1950’s. Projects were not required back then. Sam’s sons, David, Michael and Robert each received their Eagle awards through Troop 3524, chartered to Epiphany Ushers Club, Coon Rapids, MN.
David was awarded his Eagle on October 16, 1986. His project involved refurbishing a prayer garden at Epiphany Church. David has been an active member of Cub Pack 777 and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 9005.
Michael received his Eagle on October 5, 1988 after building six picnic tables for the City of Coon Rapids, MN. The tables were used at the opening of the newly completed Highway 610 Bridge. Michael is a Scoutmaster for Troop 215 in Lake Worth, FL, Gulfstream Council. Michael’s son, Hunter Rossi completed his Eagle project in July 2021 and will become the seventh Eagle in the Rossi family.
The Community Traveling Free Theater became Robert’s Eagle project. He designed a set and performed two children’s plays, The Ant and the Grasshopper, and The Good Doctor, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The highlight of Robb’s scouting experience was a Philmont trek in July 1990. Robert received his Eagle May 19, 1993, and thereafter presented his grandmother, Caroline V. Rossi, with a fifth Eagle charm for her necklace.
Congratulations and thank you to the Rossi's for their dedication to Scouting for well over 50 years!
