Financial Assistance for Registration Fees

Options To Help Cover Fees

It's our goal to never turn away a young person because they can't afford the registration fee.

Here are are several ways to help families who may need financial assistance:

  1. If a family needs financial assistance during registration, they can request it during the process. This is available to all families that need assistance.
  2. Ask your unit leader if there is financial assistance available through the unit. Cub Scout packs, Scouts BSA troops, and Venturing crews go through their own program planning and budget process each year. As part of the process, they determine their fundraising needs for the year. Families are given an opportunity to participate in fundraising to pay registration fees. All units are strongly encouraged to to set aside some funds within their unit to  support the families who may ask for financial help.
  3. Participate in the annual Northern Star Council popcorn sale. If your unit does not already participate, an individual family can participate. This is a GREAT way for young people to earn money to pay for Scouting, like their annual registration fees, uniforms, and summer camp.
