Make Plans Now for the Volunteer Fellowship Weekend this August!

Training Fellowship Weekend Scheduled

We are pleased to announce that a new opportunity for all adult Scouters to join together in fellowship and celebration of a Scouting year has been created. The Inaugural Northern Star Scouting Fellowship Camp will be held on August 6-8 at Stearns Scout Camp in South Haven, MN. There will be MANY great and fun activities that you will want to be sure to be a part of this first annual event.

Note that you can come and camp for the weekend in our tent area, inside Tonkawa Lodge (Air Conditioning!), in Yurts (so cool and with beds and electricity). Camping space is limited in each of these venues, so be sure to register early. If you are planning to camp, you can arrive after 6 pm on Friday, August 6 or in the morning of Saturday, August 7. There are also options to register for the Fellowship Brunch which will take place from 10-12 Saturday or day only activities.

After brunch, there will be some time in your campsites before the afternoon activities start. We will host a service project for those who wish to help out at the camp, training opportunities, shooting sports, fishing boat rental (renter must be safe swim and safety afloat certified), and yard games for just having some fun together. Some of the activities will have some costs to cover supplies and some may be limited in space, so be sure to sign up early.

After some time for dinner in your campsite, a patch and gear trading area will be available at Diamond Lake Lodge area. Please contact organizers if you plan to bring things to trade as we need to organize the space in the trading area.  After the trading bazaar there will be a campfire program in the North Fire Ring near the camping area (Bring Your Own Cow Costume if you wish).  Please contact Rich Greiner at [email protected] or 651.353.9623 before 5 pm on Saturday to have your song or skit added to the program.  After the campfire will be a hosted cracker barrel social time where we can sit, talk, enjoy the fire and have some fun. It is possible that we may host a movie (watch for details).

The camp will conclude on Sunday morning with a Scout Own Service at 9am (donations to World Scouting Fellowship will be accepted).  Camping check out would be after the SOS is complete.

While we are very excited to present this opportunity to all adult Scouters, we do want to ask a small something of you as well. If you are willing and able to help us in some volunteering roles for the weekend, it will help this run smoothly.  Volunteer opportunities are listed in this google form:  Please let us know who you are and how you can help. We will try to spread volunteerism around so that everyone can have some free and fun time as well.
