Request for Volunteers for Spring Camporee
Our “Scout Chef Showdown” Spring Camporee is coming up May 9-11 at Phillippo Scout Camp and we are looking for volunteers to staff some of the activities at this event.
Specifically, we are looking for help in these areas:
- Anyone working in the food industry (manufacturing, research, restaurant, chef, etc.) who would be willing to share information about their career and its requirements.
- Cooking Merit Badge Counselors to work with Scouts on requirement completion. (We do not intend to offer completion of all requirements at the event.)
- Any individual or group willing to demonstrate a camp cooking technique and provide samples (we can reimburse for materials costs).
- Staffing the slingshot range during the day May 10. We have a qualified individual who can offer the necessary training (BB Rangemaster) prior to that day.
- Checking in Scouts for both rifle and slingshot range.
- Parking and traffic direction on Friday evening as units arrive (beginning about 6 pm).
- Help with line management and belaying at the climbing tower.
- Judging of Scout Chef cooking competition.
We can offer meals for staff members and accommodations for those wishing to stay overnight. The program day will run from 9-4 Saturday.
If you are willing to help in any of these areas, please contact Dave Yarusso, [email protected].
